Fever Fish Shots

 

Classic Pose with Rod

Fever pose steps:

  1. Get the guest to hold the rod under the armpit

  2. Reel it in almost all the way


  3. Pass them the lead weight and ask them to “hold it tight and dont let go”


  4. Frame the shot to tell the right story “I caught this fish on a kayak”

  5. Take in 16mm wide angle

Framing the shot check points

  • Include the kayak: make sure that you can see the ENTIRE chair of the subject.

  • Rod: under the armpit and pointing towards the camera, this bring the fish as far away from the subject

  • Fish: about half the height of the frame.

  • Horizon: 1/3 rule

  • 16mm wide again

  • Taken 45° from the front

Check Points

  • Line is reeled in all the way, there should be a bent in the rod

  • Holding only the sinker and not the line

  • Rod is pointing towards the camera

  • The fish is nice and far away from the body

  • The hand is behind the fish and not above the fish (relative to the camera)

 

Boga: Classic Pose

Boga pose steps:

  1. Hold the boga at a 90 degree angle (use the fish to hide as much of the hand and boga

  2. Push the fish out all the way to the camera

  3. Frame the shot to tell the story “big fish on a kayak”

  4. Take in 16mm wide angle

Framing the shot check points

  • Include the kayak: make sure that you can see the ENTIRE chair of the subject.

  • Boga and hand: hidden behind the fish

  • Fish: about half or more than half the height of the frame.

  • Horizon: 1/3 rule

  • Taken 45° from the side

 

Boga: Cradle Fish Pose (Profile)

  1. Hold the boga at a 90 degree angle (use the fish to hide as much of the hand and boga

  2. cradle the fish with the finger tips, hide as much of the fingers as possible.

Fighting the Fishing (rod bender)

  • Sometimes, the best way to capture this shot is to fake it, when they get snagged, get them to lift the rod up a little can capture this shot from the side view to see the full rod bend.

  • capturing the actual moment of a fight is possible too, you just need to be fast.
