First Impression
It takes 3 seconds
It takes just a quick glance, maybe three seconds, for someone to evaluate you when you meet for the first time. In this short time, the other person forms an opinion about you based on your appearance, your body language, your demeanor, your mannerisms, and how you are dressed.
With every new encounter, you are evaluated and yet another person's impression of you is formed. These first impressions can be nearly impossible to reverse or undo, and they often set the tone for the relationship that follows.
So, it's essential that you know how to create a great first impression.
Be on time
Plan to arrive a few minutes early, and allow flexibility for possible delays in traffic or taking a wrong turn. Arriving early is much better that arriving late, and is the first step toward creating a great first impression.
Meeting time for guides is 5.50am, this give us exactly 1 hour to prepare everything before the guests arrives
If you’re 5min early, your on time, if your on time, you’re late.
Meeting time for guests is 6.50am, we MUST be ready by then, we cannot let the guests wait for us to finish setting up.
Dress Appropriately
You are a fishing guide, so you have to dress like one
Wear a hat, shades, long sleeve uv shirt, short pants with tights OR long pants, and a neck buff, water shoe (slipper not recommended)
Dress like you’re ready to head out to sea.
Approach and Speak Confidently
When it comes to making a good first impression, body language can often speak louder than words.
Use your body language to project appropriate confidence and self-assurance. Stand tall, smile (of course), make eye contact, greet with a firm handshake(Fist pump for covid). All of this will help you to project confidence and encourage both you and your guests to feel more at ease. (they are with a pro)
Learn ALL your groups name by heart and address everyone by first name basis, it shows that you are prepared and ready and excited to meet them.
Small talk: It may help you to prepare questions some questions for the person you are meeting beforehand. we already know a little bit about them, what is their fitness, if they can swim, if they know how to fish, you can ask ask them other things to find out more.
- how do they know each other?
- who is the fishing pro?
- blah blah blah
