Fishing Accuracy
Step 1: Navigate to the spot
Turn on the COG function (a line that sticks out from the boat icon) so you are headed in the straightest and most direct path to the fishing spot
Step 2: Determined Direction of Drift (Wind+Current)
Have an idea of the direction of the current first before heading to the spot, understand the how rising and falling tide affects the currents. confirm the direction of the currents by looking at the shipping vessels.
Come to a complete stop in the middle of the cluster of fishing spots
Let the kayak drift and the resulting track would be the direction of the drift.
Good habit: delete all the previous tracks so that the map will not look cluttered with tracks.
Direction of drift: South-West
Step 3: Put the guest on the spot
Now that we have the direction of the drift, we need to put the guests slightly pass the fishing spot so that they will drift directly into it. (Target icon)
How far away we drop the guest from the front of the fishing spot will depend on the speed of the drift. if its slow, we just drop them just slightly pass, if its fast, we can drop that a little further.
Maximise the time on the fishing spot
Once the guests finish drifting the fishing spot (clock icon), ask them to lines up and follow you back to the drop zone (target icon)
Do not waste too much time on sandy bottom with no structures, the catch rate there will be very low.
