Radio Check by First Name

HX300 radio.jpg
  • How to use the Radio?
With your right hand, reach over to the radio on your left shoulder, your thumb should be resting directly on that Push to Talk (PTT) button, press and hold the button to talk, release the button when you are done, to me loud and clear, talk directly into the mic (the small hole in the front that says mic)

  • Radio Rules:
    1) At any 1 time, only 1 person can talk, if someone is talking, wait for the transmission to finish first (wait for the click), then press the PTT button to talk.
WHY? if you press the PTT button when someone else is talking, that someone will not be able to hear you.
    2) Press and hold for 1 second before and after your message
WHY? this ensures that your first word and last won’t be cut off.

  • Important: address everyone by first name.

Wet Weather

  • If there’s a chance of rain on the trip, give them an idea of what is the wet weather plan

  • PLAN: if there’s lightning risk, (a strike within 10km), we head back to shore. we will wait on shore until the thunder clouds clears.

Protect the Mirage drive

Untitled.jpg
  • Tell the guest not to paddle too fast, the drive gears are made of plastic, if we paddle too fast the plastic gears will get damaged (same goes for the guides)

  • paddle at a relax steady pace, do not have to chase the guide or the rest of the group.

  • How to clear the white floating line?
Take the mirage drive and physically demo how the drive works and how pushing 1 leg forward would fold up the paddles allowing them to clear the line.

  • Need to hit the line at a 90 degree angle.
