  • The resort is designed by Moshe Safdie, an Israeli-Canadian architect who is said to have been inspired by a deck of cards when constructing the building. Moshe Safdie is also the architect for the Jewel at Changi Airport. The habitat condo at Bishan was also designed by him.

  • Marina Bay Sands would extend the hotel with a fourth tower of over 1,000 hotel rooms. It will be a separate standalone tower perpendicular to the original building.

  • Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa contribute 1.5-2% to Singapore’s GDP, with Marina Bay Sands netting a cool net income of US$783 mil in the last quarter of 2019.

  • The most expensive recorded loss in the casino’s history was a $400,000 single bet by a Singapore rag-and-bone man on a single card, which turned out to be in favor of the house.

  • Marina Bay Sands is home to Waku Ghin, dubbed the most expensive and best restaurant in Singapore. It is not uncommon to see guests raking up S$2,000 bills for a meal of two.

  • For a better perspective, it measures longer than a certain iconic attraction in Paris, France, from end to end.

  • A directional change was made to the Singapore Flyer on 28 July 2008 when a geomancer (Feng Shui Master) pointed out that the flyer was “taking fortune away from Singapore” with the direction of its rotation. The flyer was then reconfigured at a six-figure sum to turn in the opposite direction.

  • It probably didn’t work because the flyer went went bankrupt eventually.

  • A ride on the Singapore Flyer consists of one round of the massive observation wheel. It takes around 30 minutes for the Singapore Flyer to complete the revolution. This is counted from the time you step on to the passenger capsule to the time you step of the capsule.

  • You can have a romantic meal in the capsule too. You’ll get to go 2 rounds, so 1 hour to finish your meal.

  • Story: More than 6,000 migrant workers enjoyed free rides on the Singapore Flyer, thanks to SingapoRediscovers vouchers donated by the public and tickets pledged by the attraction as part of an initiative by ItsRainingRaincoats
